Ahmed Shams El Din is a Managing Director, Head of Research and a member of the IB Management Committee at EFG Hermes. Shams is a board member at ValU, a fast growing Fintech/consumer finance startup. He is also an adjunct Faculty at the American University in Cairo (AUC), where he teaches corporate finance and investments.

As an analyst, he led EFG Hermes’s research in different sectors, where he assessed and valued some of the largest listed companies in the MENA (Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Amman) and international markets (Euronext, LSE). He is a top ranked analyst by international investors in global surveys; the Euromoney Middle East Best Research Management (where he won the first place several times), Thomson Reuters Extel Survey and Institutional Investors (II) Magazine, in which he won the third place in Europe, Middle East and North Africa (EMEA) in 2015. As an Executive, Shams El Din heads a team of highly-qualified Emerging Markets analysts in Cairo, Dubai, Riyadh, Muscat, Karachi, Nairobi, London and Singapore, and expanded the group’s research coverage beyond MENA into new emerging and frontier markets in Asia and Africa. He led the team to the best 10 research houses in EMEA and by far the best in the MENA region, according to the world’s most reputable global institutional investors’ surveys and polls in 2015 and 2016.
